Mixing Prints: Chilly Retro Spring Outfit

I’ve always felt reluctant when in comes to mixing different prints. However, today I’d like to show you a retro inspired chilly day spring outfit. In this outfit, I am combining leopard print and tartan.

As you may know from my previous post, I am a big fan of tartan prints. I just can’t get enough of checked skirts, pants and shoes! Hence, I like this kind of print because it is classic as well as casual but also goes with more alternative styles.

I am wearing my lovely faux fur leopard print coat by Mango. It might seem weird to wear faux fur in spring but the temperatures here in Northern Germany have been really chilly these days.

What do you think about mixing patterns? I think leo print and tartan are an interesting combination. I’ve seen many combos on Pinterest where ladies mix these kind of patterns together. I guess it can look quite cool and casual.

To be honest, I’ve felt a bit uneasy with this combo but anyways I think it is very striking and contrasty. The tartan skirt I am wearing is by Collectif.

I like to wear this checked pencil skirt with my dark green Voodoo Vixen cable knit cardigan. The blouse I am wearing underneath is by The Seamstress of Bloomsbury.

Admittedly, this may not seem like a spring outfit though. However, it may also go well for autumn when combined with a flat cap. I am also wearing a true vintage handbag by Ackery London and vintage shoes by Brunate.

I am a lover of true vintage bags from the 50s and 60s. This 1960s handbag is made of ostrich leather for instance. Perhaps you have already seen me wearing my red Ackery London bag in a previous post.

In a nutshell, I do believe that combining prints can be tricky. Nevertheless, I like to try different combos since in the end it is only fashion, no? Just be experimental. Which kinds of prints do you like to combine? Let me know in the comments below!
