Retro Spring Outfits with Tartan Pants

Today I come to you with some fresh retro spring outfits with tartan pants. Tartan is usually associated with winter time and Christmas I suppose. However, I like to wear this kind of pattern all year round regardless of the season!

In particular, I love red tartan. That’s why I also have two skirts in this style. Perhaps you’ve seen my recent post about the Eva blouse? There I am wearing a red tartan skirt by Laura Ashley.

Here I am wearing 50s inspired Irvine cigarette pants by Hell Bunny. I quite enjoy wearing these because they are very light and comfortable. Hence, these are pants for summer as well.

First, I love to combine tartan pants with a navy vintage blouse. This one is the Eva blouse by The Seamstress of Bloomsbury. The bow tie blouse is one of my favourite vintage inspired pieces. I quite enjoy the fact that red tartan goes with several styles such as rock, goth and punk. What is more, it also goes well with an elegant and vintage style outfit. As a fashion chameleon I love the freedom to create different styles with a few versatile pieces.

Anyways, I can’t stress enough how much I love the blouses by The Seamstress of Bloomsbury. Here I am wearing the powder blue Judy blouse. I think these pants also go perfectly with light-blue. How do you like this outfit? Plain or combined with a classic black belt?

I do think that pastel colours are always perfect for spring and summer. That’s why I prefer combining tartan pants with a light-coloured blouse and a creme cardigan if it is chilly. This Voodoo Vixen cable knit cardigan is one of my favourite. I also own the same cardigan in dark green. Perhaps you remember my post about ‘How to style a sleeveless dress‘.

Oh of course, I also like to style red with red! Here I am wearing the red Lily cardigan by timeless London. I think a creme-coloured blouse underneath is just perfect, no? This one is the gorgeous 40s style Lacey blouse by The Seamstress.

Another combo I can think of is wearing these pants with the yellow Saerli of Switzerland sweater. You might have seen me wearing this yellow outfit in my previous post. You might also want to check out my article about Vintage Tartan Pattern Love.

I was very happy when I’ve thrifted this high quality pleated skirt last year at an Oxfam shop. I think this skirt comes very close to an original kilt.
