Vintage Winter Chic: Collectif Pearl Coat

I know it is already end of March. However, here in Northern Germany has been still chilly enough to wear a winter coat. In fact, I am looking forward to spring and warmer temperatures. Nevertheles, I still have had the chance to wear my lovely Collectif Pearl Coat in March.

Collectif Pearl Coat

I’ve got this vintage reproduction coat secondhand on Ebay. I was so happy I’ve finally got it because I’ve seen and admired it on other vintage ladies. I know the Pearl Coat has been around for quite a few years since it has been popular in the vintage community. I’ve got the navy blue one with grey and brown faux fur collar and trim.

By the way, this is my first retro reproduction coat! At the moment I am also looking for a vintage swing trenchcoat in beige or another light colour. Such a coat seems to be quite hard to find. I am primarily looking for secondhand items since they are more affordable to me. If you have such a coat for sale in a size S (perhaps also XS), feel free to message me.

Anyways, I do agree with other vintage bloggers like Retrocat that the 1930s style Pearl Coat is a very elegant and luxurious coat. It seems to be relatively warm and a hardy winter coat and the material is alright as well. However, I find this coat very heavy and another drawback is that it consists mainly of synthetic fibres.

The Princess Coat

Nevertheless, the coat is really extravagant. I also like the midi length and the nice feminine cut. When I wear this coat I feel like a princess! I think this is also a perfect coat to wear with an elegant evening dress when going out to the theatre or opera. Hopefully, in the not so far future there will still be opportunity to enjoy some culture firsthand and not only online…

Anyways, I do like to combine this navy coat with my cognac-coloured true vintage handbag, matching gloves and my plum-coloured Charlie Stone booties. I think complementary colour always go very well together. They also make each other stand out and shine more brightly.

Oh and of course, pearl earrings are always appropriate as Jackie Kennedy said. In the picture below I am wearing vintage inspired pearls by Vintage Dream.
